LETTER OF INTENTION

Within the framework of strengthening the relations between  Colombia and multilateral American organizations and, especially, in respect to the promotion of the scientific and cultural interchange between the National University of  Colombia and the Inter-American Children's Institute, a specialized Organization of the American States,  the present letter of intention is drafted with a proposal  of collaboration between the IIN and the National University of  Colombia, in different areas.

The  proposal is sponsored by Dr. Jairo  Iván Peña Ayazo,  Dean of the  Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of the Universidad Nacional de  Colombia, Headquarters at Santa Fe of Bogota, starting from the request of the Political Sciences student  Adriana Rubiano,  to hold an internship at the Inter-American Children's Institute, which is located in Montevideo, Uruguay.

The request to the Inter-American Children's Institute  that the student Adriana Rubiano of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia  holds the internship in the area of the rights of the child,  will allow identifying the areas in which both institutions could cooperate.

For the future development of these activities, both organizations will work on the management of economical resources and in the consolidation of an agreement of cooperation, that should be signed after defining a concrete program of activities, counting specially on the  cooperation of the Office of the OAS in Colombia.

The present letter of intention  is signed respectively in the cities of Montevideo and Santa Fe of Bogota, on the _22nd__ day of ___January_____  of the year two thousand and two.
